Owl Pellets: My Undigested Internets.
-
- How to Modernize Victorian Furniture – I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to be wrecking their chairs.
- London’s Surveillance Fails – Only 1 Crime Solved per 1000 Cameras – That money, better spent, could have prevented more crimes than those cameras ever did. But I can guess how this will all play out — “Cameras don’t work so we need more cameras!” Governments think like junkies.
- Mushrooms And Berries – These people have me under “Sexy Blogs” so how could I not like them? The site is a collection of fascinating ephemera, bits of wisdom and writings in some foreign alphabet. It’s quite good.
- Booming hookah biz links China, Iran, Egypt – and Texas – Hookahs are catching on. I wonder how long it’ll be before the puritans show up to wreck everyone’s good time.
- Ten Rules for 5G Warfare – Umair Haque – HarvardBusiness.org – The internet is a brutish place, red in tooth and claw.

Dear Grumpy Owl,
Regarding ruining Victorian chairs, I’m reminded of my mother who painstakingly removed the original paint from a 200 year old sea chest. She was refinishing it! Oops. Value gone.
However, if the piece is not valuable, there is no harm in painting it or removing the original upholstery. Many Victorian pieces were massed produced and, while they have lots of charm, they don’t necessarily have a lot of value.
Thanks for stopping by! Come back again and don’t be afraid to leave your opinion on Design Hole. I love a worthy design topic.
