Owl Pellets

Industrial Policy: New Wine in Old Bottles: It’s extremely rare to find something that I’m in total agreement with. Extremely rare. This essay is one of the few instances. It’s a moderate, well informed, practical and optimistic view of future economies. Highly recommended reading for every citizen but especially those who have their own little business.
Why Not Just Kill Yourself?: A short-lived philosophy blog that looks like it died in 2006. Wish it had of continued. It’s interesting.
You Are Being Lied to About Pirates: Some things you should know about pirates before you consent to a war on piracy. Some of these buckaneers are just trying to stop the illegal dumping of nuclear waste in their waters.
Fidel Castro on the 11th President of the United States: Castro writes about Obama and, really, doesn’t say much. The only thing I gleaned from it is that Fidel thinks I’m a misanthrope.

Just stumbled across this. Thanks for the kind words, Ryan. I think this is the first time anyone’s called me moderate.

Well, anarchistt/anti-statist thought seems to run from those who are far too trusting of unfettered corporate power to those who want to burn down every store and abolish money altogether. It strikes me that you’ve proposed something in between the two. Something sensible and realistic about humans.
I look at culture as being a bit like science. For a new scientific theory to hold it has to not only explain new things but also better perform the functions of the theory it supplants.
Your theory and the culture it endorses seems like one that would not only lead to greater liberty and better people but also greater wealth, convenience and better products.
It offers something new but also does a better job on the corporate tasks.
