Hollywood Casing the Human Brain

Seemingly unhappy with the cynicism that has served them so well, Hollywood is now using MRIs to see how popcorn eaters react to films.  They’ve learned that Hitchcock exercises more control over the brain than simply gaping at a city street.   And this should help them . . .  Do what exactly?

Make the human equivalent of those cat movies?  They already do that.

Will we suddenly stop seeing movies about poor women who meet rich men; strong men who fight evil monsters and troupes of catty divorcees finding solace in revenge, sisterhood and shoe shopping?  I doubt it.  Will these movies even be better done? I doubt that too.  Will people love these movies more?

Of course.

Now when we go to whatever dumb show, good comic book, bad book or good movie that Hollywood is remaking, we’ll know they wasted even more money than usual to bore, disappoint and insult us.  And that they still got it wrong.

Knowing that Hitchcock controls our minds is one thing. Figuring out how he did it is another.  And replicating the feat?  Well. Gus Van Sant remade Psycho. I never saw it.  Did anyone?
