I don’t know anything about Pakistani politics. I’ve read the same papers as you; I just don’t think I know anything. I’ve been told to be upset and worried that someone killed Benazir Bhutto. I’m not. All I know about her is that she was corrupt and a great supporter of “the war on terror.” And now she’s dead.
Boo fucking hoo.
I’ve heard a lot of ranting about democracy and how important it is. This always amuses me. There is not now nor has there even been an actual democracy on this planet. And thank God for that. Rule by the people? Let me ask you something: Have you met the people? They shouldn’t be ruling anything except themselves. And they have enough trouble with that. They certainly shouldn’t be ruling each other.
And Pakistan is a nuclear power. I would not trust the so-called people with a slingshot. Now I’m supposed to trust them with nuclear warheads? Well, I don’t. If a dictator fucks up, we know who to kill. If the people fuck up, what then? Suddenly the people aren’t the people who did anything. It was the other people who did it.
I can guarantee you this: If we ever have a nuclear holocaust and there’s one person left, he’ll be walking around with his hands in his pockets, whistling and saying: “I dunno, wasn’t me.” Even if it was. Especially then.
I’m supposed to be upset because a woman I have no understanding of was killed by other people I have no understanding of for reasons I can’t understand. My apologies, but it’s just not the sort of thing that gets me all morally indignant and self-righteous about freedom.
If anything, I’m happy she died. Now her followers are out in the street burning down banks. It’s important to occasionally get out of the house and take some fresh air. Good for the constitution.
