Blog Readability Test
By Ryan Oakley. Filed in writing |First off, I’m really happy that, after fucking off for a year, Melly from “All Kinds of Writing” has returned to blogging. She’s a good friend –in the raw world too– and I’ve been missing her blog.
Over the years, we’ve had some interesting conversations about, well, all kinds of writing. It makes sense. We met in a writer’s group, which I later quit. Some of these conversations have been about blogging.
While I still think blogging is an inferior form of writing and I put the bulk of my effort into my novels, it has grown on me. People read it at least. That counts for something. And, unlike dramatizing problems, it’s fairly easy. You can just come right out and say shit. No need to have this or that happen to character A. I like that.
Anyhow, she just posted a blog readability test, which I took. You need to be able to read on an elementary school level to understand this blog. I think that’s a good thing. I hate big words. Every time I see more than two three-syllable words in a sentence, I panic.
Apparently, you have to be a genius to read hers. Must be because it’s incomprehensible.
