Well it’s not the best picture ever taken of me. And it’s not sharpest I’ve ever looked. But I’d like to see how good you look after you spend the whole night changing “was” to “is”.
I bet you’ll also look pale and sloppy — a dopey owl in daylight — when you finally peel yourself off the couch at noon and attend your local comic book show. You probably won’t even be wearing a tie. At least I tried. And I can’t help my face. It’s about what I deserve. Aside from nature’s cruelty, I’ve earned that face.
But anyway, here’s the story. I bumped into Sonja from Toronto Street Fashion at the Toronto Comic Arts Convention. She snapped my picture. I didn’t think much of it. It’s a digital age and this happens fairly often. Once some fellow even asked me to stand in the doorway of his shop. Yesterday, she asks me if she can use it for some sort of profile thing they do.
I usually say no to these requests but she seems nice enough. So I chipped off a little piece of my wit and wisdom and gave it to her. (You can read it here.)
Anyway, I have a couple of comments. There’s no fashion reporters at science fiction conventions. I know of three that were at the comic one. This is a bad sign for SF. Very bad. It’s time for that genre to grab its image by the balls and give it a good shake. The fellows in Klingon costumes have to go. They’re depressing.
The other is, would you just look at the girl in the blue polka dots. Wow. I want to marry her. But, the way my luck is, she’ll probably turn out to be Sarah Heywood.

There were actually 4 fashion people there that I know of, including me.

I said that you “seem nice”. There is a difference.
