I can’t remember very much about kindergarten and I certainly wouldn’t say that I learned everything I ever needed to know there. I know that I spent a great deal of time trying to kiss some girl but I can’t even remember her name. It’s a good thing that I have some documentation to fall back on.
According to Mrs. Staples – what a name for a teacher – I adjusted well to new school situations, had a good sense of humour and liked being in small groups or with one other child. I also enjoyed talking with adults in complete sentences. Apparently I had “good control with the hoop and beanbag” though my work with the balance beam, rope and ball still needed a bit of work. (Still does.) Mrs. Staples claimed that I should reduce the size of my letters, which strikes me as funny because hers are almost too small to read, and goes on to say that “Ryan has a good deal of action in his drawings and paintings.” Not much detail though.
Here’s another report card if you’re interested in looking at it – and if not – I just want to have it around.

I see you go for the military look and not the bow tie look like some of your comrades .
Did they say that you follow directions well or did I misread that
?And a child like you with scissors ? What are they thinking ?

Do you remember what those scissors were like? You couldn’t cut air with those things. And, for some reason, they were all left-handed.
That kid over my shoulder looks a lot like Orson Welles. Just put a beard on that little fucker.
