I have bought Erinmore Mixture twice in my life. Once in a pouch and once in a tin. I have never gotten through a full package. It is fucking awful.
It’s an Irish mixture that tastes like pineapple.
I’ll put aside the question of just what Irish people know about pineapples and instead wonder what sort of whiskey sodden stupor this terrible idea emerged from.
I picture a tweedy fellow staggering home from his local pub. There’s a light drizzle. He pauses in a church doorway to light his pipe, smacks his lips and looks at the briar bowl. Ruminates for a moment upon his troubled land. Without thinking he blows a smoke ring, which hangs in the damp air before him. Then, as if molded by fairy fingers, it forms the shape of a tropical fruit.
“I’ve got it!” the gentleman exclaims: “It needs more pineapple!”
“Well Sir,” I would say to him. “This is the future speaking. Your blend does not need more pineapple. Please go back to soaking your tobaccos in the whiskey that has so addled your mind and leave tropical mixtures to third-world bartenders working in resorts populated by swinish tourists.”

I paid $18.95 for a pouch of MacBaren’s Vanilla Cream two weeks ago.
No room note of vanilla though. Just pineapple. Fucking awful.

Try Peterson’s Sweet Killarney sometime. It’s pretty damn good.

Just so you know it’s not suppose to taste like pineapple, it’s called a logo. A pineapple was a sign of quality when this blend first came out. I just wanted to share that with you.

Well it tastes incredibly fruity. Whether that fruit is pineapple, apricot, peaches or just something that’s gone off is a matter of some debate. To me, it smells like pineapple and tastes like crap. A completely awful tobacco.
Just so you know.

Wasn’t meaning to come off as rude towards you in any form, if I did I apologize, I’ve just read the vast majority of people expect it to taste like pineapple due to the logo on the tin. So what kind of pipe tobacco would you recommend as a personal favorite of yours?

I wouldn’t recommend a personal favourite just because people’s tastes vary. I would tell you yhat I like the Dunhill English blends. Not a big aromatic fan.

So you like a latakia blend I would guess? I’ve been smoking Peterson’s Old Dublin recently and from what I understand that is classified as an English blend. Correct me if I’m wrong on that.

Oh, dear Lord forfend, the English mixture debate. Some say it is non-flavoured mixtures. Some say Latakia. Some say Oriental-Virginia. I dunno. Find what you like to smoke and smoke it.
I, for one, love the offerings from Gawith, Hoggarth, and Co. But, then again, I need potency in large quantities to even pique my interest.
Mr. Oakley, you seem to like Peterson tobaccos. May I suggest Irish Flake? You’ll have an opinion upon it, one way or the other.

English mixtures are like porn. You know them when you taste them. Er . . .
I’m not wild on Peterson tobaccos but the only aromatic I keep in steady rotation is their Sweet Kilarny. I’ve tried Irish Flake but it was a while ago. Probably due for another shot.
