In about a week it’ll be the anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. (Did you remember to buy flowers? Iraq will be pissed if you forget.) And it looks like America will attack Iran in April.
I know that your first instinct is to try to prevent that war. But that is the wrong instinct. That’s the way that liberals and conservatives think. They know that the war will be very bad for America and that’s why they’re trying to prevent it. And, make no mistake, it will be very bad for America.
That’s why you have to let it happen.
The mere fact that such a conflict is even being considered –I would say, already started– is a sign of just how sick America has become. Invading Iran is its way of pulling the plug. We should let it die.
(I would say “let it die with dignity” but America has been many things over the years. Some good some bad. But dignified was never in the picture.)
If such a war starts the fascists will look strong. But it will be a lie. Once involved in Iran, they will be at their weakest. It will be possible to blow them over like an oak tree that has rotted from the inside. Their army will be overseas, their popularity diminished and even their police will be ready to turn on them. It will be time to move. Forget the protests. It’ll be time to storm the capital and take it back.
Keep your powder dry.
