If there’s one thing Bill gates knows how to do (other than strike a sexy pose) it’s make money. The guy has made a lot of it. And guess what? He plans to make more. But this time he’s thinking of robots.
He wrote an article for Scientific American comparing robotics to computers in the 1970s. predicting a robot in every home and stating that they should all be running on Microsoft. He says that: “We may be on the verge of a new era, when the PC will get up off the desktop and allow us to see, hear, touch and manipulate objects in places where we are not physically present.” Kinda makes you think about the blue screen of death doesn’t it?
Anyway, he’s created Microsoft Robotics Studio. It’s for use on robotic toys and for professionals. Even non-programmers can get in on the action with a drag and drop environment. That’s good for me because the only code I understand is the one that my cat telepathically transmits through right-wing radio call in shows.
We can all look forward to armies of Microsoft robots bitching about Apple robots and vice-versa, while Linux robots bitch about both of them. Oh yeah, we already have that.
