And You Thought Kramer Was Bad

There are many reasons why one should be happy to not live in Russia. The most recent has to do with their pop duet Tatu. In the west pop music is harmless and inoffensive pap. But in Russia, as Yakov Smirnoff has so often pointed out, things are different. Very different.

Tatu’s latest album is seen as an attack on disabled people. I can’t understand why. It’s only named “Lyundi- Invalidy” which means “Disabled People.” Oh wait. That’s not all. The liner notes say: “The disabled don’t know what it takes to be a human being. The disabled are just a counterfeit built around the humanoid dummy. The disabled do not live, they just function. Their functioning complies with the law of mechanics and four more characteristics, namely, cruelty, stupidity, greed and baseness.”

Okay, I guess I can see why people would be upset. Sort of. But Tatu apologized – or rather explained: “Actually, gave it a thought while working on the concept of the album. We were thinking over a possible impact the lyrics might have on those with physical handicaps. By no means had we intended to insult them or treat them inappropriately so we put a definition of the “disabled” on a booklet enclosed with the album. No doubt about, the definition concerns the persons whose soul is flawed. The same interpretation should be applied to the lyrics of the song.”

That’s about as clear as mud. I just wonder what their song “Malchik Gay” is really about, while secretly wishing that Britney had lyrics like: “I long for you to hold me, like your boyfriend does, and though my dream is slowly fading, I wanna be the object, object, object, object of your passion but it’s hopeless.”

So does that mean that Stephen Hawking is useless in comparison to these two pseudo-lesbians?
