I suppose the vast majority of internet users will never look at porn. They’ll use it for all of the ennobling reasons; like expanding their mind and being part of an electronic global village with no nudity. But some people – a tiny minority, to be sure – also use their magic boxes to get a look at stranger’s magic boxes. For the niche market that does like sexy people doing sexy things, there was an interesting controversy in September.
Suicide Girls started getting into trouble with some of its former models. They alleged that the obstensibly feminist, punk site was actually quite misogynist and exploitive. Their criticisms appeared in Wired and in Boing Boing. The whole thing turned into quite a little brouhaha. There were nasty words on all sides and the stink of lawyers at the gates.
Now, just recently, the whole thing has taken another turn with the launch of Gods Girls. It’s a very similar set up to Suicide Girls, with blogs, interactivity and tattoos, but it apparently lacks the whole misogynist thing. I think – but am not sure – that it was set up by disgruntled Suicide Girls.
So, if you want to feel good about porn (and not just because it produces strong electrical responses in you brain – although that’s reason enough) I suppose you now have a place to go. It sure, ahem, beats the hell out of watching that same old lady being humped by the angry donkey.

No, really, I had no idea. Alas, I’m part of that vast majority that doesn’t use the web for porn. No, really.
Finally, this was a post I could feel good about…
