You can, at times, find nice examples of design where you least expect it. Consider the pop bottle. It’s as sleek and pretty as anything you’d ever want. The only problem is that they’re made out of cheap plastic and they’re everywhere. So our eyes get numb and we stop noticing them.
But Qubus Design has solved this by rendering throwaway products in porcelain. You get the looks and feel like you actually own something you can keep for longer than five minutes. At best, it might change the way you look at some of the crap that you’re surrounded by. At worse, you can keep pencils in it.
If you want to buy these in Toronto, you can get them at long time Grumpy Owl friend, Up To You on Queen East. I’m still enjoying the groovetube I bought there in the winter.

That groovetube looks, well, groovy. I think it might be mandatory when watching the Fox News Channel or something like Spike or E! … well not the Soup!
