Yesterday I was watching the Eagle Eye Cam when something strange happened. The mother flew away. I peered into the nest, hoping to see the only remaining egg. But nothing was there. What the fuck? I thought. Where’s the egg?
The eagle returned after a few minutes and seemed as confused as I. It dug around the nest, preened itself, as stressed birds will do, and then dug some more. I had the horrible feeling that none of its eggs had made it. The mother obviously had the same feeling. Unfortunately, we were right. Nature had once again proven her fundamental cruelty.
But not all is lost for us armchair birders. The Eagle Eye Cam is setting up at another nest, where there are Eaglets. In the meantime there is also this site, where you can watch streaming footage for 2 minutes before they cut you off or here, where you can seeing pictures being refreshed every 30 seconds. Let’s hope these little chaps do better than their cousins in Hornby. It would be hard to do worse.

I tried to watch and it didn’t work for me. Are you playing with my mind here? I’m young, dumb and stupid. Be nice.

I am nice. Just in a bad mood a lot of the time.

[...] just hope this all turns out better than 2006’s streaming eagle footage. That had a really sad ending. But what’s really sad is that I’ve been sitting in front of my computer, watching [...]
