There’s an old saying: “You can carpet the world or you can wear shoes.” I’d like to add that sometimes you have to do both.
Countries from around the world have joined forces to try to prevent huge swathes of China from becoming desert. Aside from the fact that living in a desert is rather difficult, these regions also produce a lovely weather condition known as a Yellow Dust Storm. The name is self explanatory but basically it’s “huge yellow clouds of suspended dust which based on the direction of the prevailing wind can be sent out to sea.” And they can cross the sea and hit North America.

You can likely imagine what breathing in such a storm is like. I figure it’s somewhat akin to sticking your head under sand and sucking. So, aside from attempting to stop China’s desertification, Korea is also selling helpful transparent masks. Not only do they allow the free and easy intake of breathable air, they also look quite fashionable. No citizen in today’s dystopia should be without one.
