It appears that robots will soon be playing sports. Manoi, to be released in 2006, can play some soccer though it is not yet known just how much “game” it has.
Described as a “1/5 Scale Athlete Humanoid” by the Kyosho Corporation, Manoi will be competing in the first “Kyosho Athletics Humanoid Cup” in August 2006.” The first event is to be the 5 meter run though they want to add a 20 meter sprint because it is 1/5 of the 100 meter.
Besides all of that, he is a cute little fellow who reminds me of a cross between Astro Boy and Mega Man. Let’s just hope that his ball kicking powers are used for good and never for evil.
