Cockroach Controlled Robot

Just in case you thought that cockroaches were not hard enough to kill, Garnet Hertz has the solution. He has made a cockroach controlled robot.

Although this came out in 2004, I still haven’t seen any of the insects sporting the device. No mind. Cockroaches have been around for millions of years and their fashion stagnated quite some time ago. (Seriously, six legs? What self respecting animal still has six legs?) I suspect that it will take about a decade for them to get used to this. Whether they like it is another question.

Even if they don’t, you still have to admire Hertz for attempting to break into new markets. Bugs represent the bulk of the population on this planet yet they are continually ignored. It really makes no sense. We sell clothes to cats and shoes to dogs when they represent a fraction of the animals we deal with. For example, the avian haberdashery market is almost totally unexplored. Don’t even get me started on the untapped possibilities of the reptile electric leg warmer or the rodent scarf.

I applaud you Mr. Hertz. From the bottom of my heart, I applaud you.
